There is a technique that I find helpful for gettting the low notes to sound, and which also improves the tone quality of my high notes. It's something I've borrowed from singing lessons.

When you need to sing from low to high, you are taught to "think" the high note while singing the low note. This gets your musculature to put itself in place for the high note *before* you go there.

I'm finding that the opposite of that works well on the oboe: if I have to go from high to low, I "think" the low note while playing the high. That is, if I open my jaw as if to play a low passage while still playing the high passage, when I go to the lower note, it will speak clearly, and the high note becomes fuller, in the bargain.

It's a good corrective against pinching.
