Thanks for this discussion folks, was thinking about more advanced Yamaha than 411 for myself, so very helpful & timely comments here ...
Sounds like some consistencies in this line ... intermediate model also good lower, so-so middle on 1st joint, not bad low upper, definitely shallower on very top even after significant air boost ... so, overall very good value for intermediate instrument ... but perhaps not as good value for advanced instrument?
Maybe it's the wood itself or wall thickness?
Haven't noticed hiss in 411 other than my own fingering misplacements, maybe more advanced model has it, intermediate not ... more user data?
Did have trouble with ever-so-slightly bent & stuck open 2nd octave key, still can't think what I did if anything to abuse it, so maybe mechanically it's a bit too dainty ...
Main issues for me ... keys very beautiful to look at, but much too smmmoooth and treacherously slippery when even slightly sweaty ...
... also the case, very dainty, but inadequately small storage, doesn't even have room for all of grease, silk swob & reed case, let alone the screw-driver and spring hook ...
