having flexibility is really important!
i think one thing you should really look at too is the amount of reed you get into your mouth. and also most likely the posture where you are holding the oboe. you might rushing a bit here and there. as long as you discipline yourself on pitch, the bad pitching will not disrupt your tone perception. just listen to more good recordings.
when you begin to strengthen your embouchure and understand the effects of each factor in your playing, there will be enough understanding of how much of this and that will balance up what is needed. for instance, tone is often very subjective as you want a different sound for a different piece of music, and tone color dynamic possibilities seems endless, but still there must be a good foundation on how you should sound and understand how to alter it both in terms on intonation and color later.
