The Oboe BBoard

I agree about being in a "camp" of instruments. I grew up with everyone in our valley "makin' music" on summer nights.
All the instruments were stringed- fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin. My little brother took to them like a duck to water. He still plays all of the above very well. I tried my best for years and can only vaguely play a bit on mandolin. I just don't have the "knack" for them, no matter how much I practice.
On the other hand I've had little trouble with piano, organ, tympani, clarinet, tin whistles and even bagpipes-they seem right for me.
This oboe (which I began to work on three months ago after a 37 year break) is work, but I do have the hope that eventually I'll get better. Right now my biggest frustration is that my mouth blows out long before I'm ready to quit my nightly practice.
