hey Dutchy
in order to play the tune, substituting the C#/Db left hand trill key would work, but the question is how smoothly and non-blip can you move from that left 3rd finger 'high lift' trill lever to close G while applying left pinky Ab all in 16ths?
Is your left 3rd really that agile and independently mobile to 'lift high' off the trill lever in a 16th while dropping Left 2 on the Bb fingering so that Left 3 is ready to close G in synch with left pinky Ab?
In the interests of long-term finger technique development, need to build up using the Left Eb / Right Db combination sometime in your life ... and Key Ab is definitely the key signature to learn how to do this
Try doing this sequence in slow mo for multiple umpteen reps so it's accurate before you attempt it at CD pace -- C, LEFT Eb, close down to RIGHT Db and open up to C twice, Bb, Ab ... and what's the note & value you have to move on to directly after the 16th Ab? Include that in the reps to maintain 16th momentum with smooth transition across the barline
'close down' and 'open up' here means synchronise the lifiting movements of Left 2,3 & 4 with Right 2,3 & 4 together to get C, hold all these fingers in curved 'hovering' position like bananas just above all keys, then close down all fingers likewise in synch to play Db with Left Eb key applied at the same time
it's OK to hold the Left Eb down to play Db in this particular Key signature, if oboe's working correctly mechanically the Eb won't interfere with Db
eventually, though, it's better to learn how to lift Left Eb sometime in the future, all it needs is a tiny little curled-up lift of the left pinky tip in that centred position over LEb to release it
after you've got the hang of 'hovering' or 'bunching' your fingers all together like this you may find this sequence is much easier than it seems to you at the moment :-)
great idea to post this scanned illustration of the passage, gosh, all the amazing things yours truly olde generation needs to learn how to do on my computer
