My advice:
Get a Yamaha. They hold their value.
Plastic YOB211LF or YOB241-40 with the left F for the rank beginner, (no low Bb unfortunately)
YOB411 or YOB441 Grenadilla wood for the slightly advanced or more ambitious.
Loree Top joints crack like a bugger in untrained hands, and I have had awful experiences with them trying to replace parts.
Yamaha on the other hand have just instituted a 5 year warranty and so are very user friendly in that respect.
Oh and don't buy on ebay unless you are an experienced repairman and don't mind handling stolen goods.
That's only MY opinion of course..............
