You might also try lengthening the windows which are between the heart and the thread (in effect shortening the heart), and blending the window/heart transition. Or, if the heart is already short, as a last resort you could try making some small chinks in it behind the blend to the tip, or try making a skinny, short scrape at the bottom of the heart, next to and parallel with the spine. Those last adjustments sometimes provide more vibration without endangering the structure and stability of the reed.
