Hi --
A lot of the reeds I buy come tasting of Listerine, so I suppose that is generally recognized as effective.
There is a product called "Sterisol" that is used for disinfecting reeds. Google it for a vendor.
Some recommend a 1:10 dilution of Clorox, a dental rinse (have to get it from your dentist) called Peridex, or a cleaner called Hibiclens (also diluted).
