A 1:10 dilution of Clorox sounds like overkill. Hypochlorite (the active ingredient in bleach) could produce harmful chlorinated products. I've used hydrogen peroxide, which should be much safer.
EDIT: after looking at the discussion ohsuzan linked, I'd say hydrogen peroxide is your best bet. Readily available at drugstores, cheap, and quite safe. I would imagine that the Peridex has hydrogen peroxide in it, but why pay more for a bunch of excess crap that won't do your reeds any good?
I believe Peter Hurd recommends hydrogen peroxide, as well.
