Drew, thanks for your comments and guidance. I genuinely appreciate it.

I'm afraid that I do "like cakes, but hate baking" or perhaps I'm just spoiled by the single reed world where I generally find reed alteration/selection to take just a few minutes a month.

As to the instrument itself, I see your point. Still, as a guy who loves vintage clarinets and saxes, there's a certain appeal to an instrument that has stood the test of time and is still able to produce music a hundred years later! Museum piece or not, it's still darn cool.

Much to consider here...and, again, I appreciate your helpful comments.
