 Sax-Fingered Oboes...good idea?

I'm a clarinet/saxophone player, but have always been drawn to the oboe. But learning the double reed embouchure AND the new fingerings has proven to be too much when I've fiddled with it in the past. Frankly, I get frustrated that I have to take such a big step backwards.

So, there are occasionally sax-oboes or sax-fingered oboes that appear on eBay or from music stores. They are odd things that seem all to be nearly 100 years old, but interesting in that they would help overcome a huge hurdle to my tackling the oboe. After getting the embouchure under control, I could someday move on to the fingerings (I'm a doubler at heart, so this feels reasonable to me)
