Hi,

I find that the way the reed sounds is also diagnostic - a reed with too much "noise' is not too good - in comparison to smooth resonant consistent vibrations - the crow can tell you about the quality of the reed. And the need to re-balance - redefine the reed.

The crow is also somewhat subjective to your instrument - since on my Loree I look for a crow a few cents lower than C and on my Marigaux a few cents above C.
