Everybody has their own priorities in life but there ought to be some strong commitment to the orchestra, especially in the wind, where there is usually only one player to a part. If a player is unable to attend a concert there should be as much notice given to enable a deputy to be brought in. Just not turning up without notice is a definite 100% 'no-no' except in dire emergencies. (I have known this in string sections but not wind).
