 playing with a cracked reed

I am a begining oboist who lives in a rural area with no music stores nearby. I recently ran out of good oboe reeds and had to resort to an oboe reed with a crack on one side of it. I am having trouble with the person who I order reeds from so I have the feeling I am going to be stuck with this reed for a while. Any advice on how to play w/ a cracked reed would be greatly apreciated.
