Actually, my winter reeds vary between bad and realllllly bad. Though I DO manage to deal with the thin shrill sound due to reeds closing because of (as you mentionned) dry central heating, electric floorboards (ugh) , or (god forbid) WOODBURNING STOVES. Reeds start closing around mid-october and usually get decent in april. Everything between that tends to be like a "whacky roller coaster ride of hell". I mean, one can still scrape a decent reed...for winter, but they're always more closed than during the rest of the year, and I like nice OPEN reeds!
As of my oboe. It usually goes bonkers in fall, but onc it's well adjusted, it's fine for winter.
