Don't let a personal grudge affect your decision. When I was a kid, I wanted to play saxaphone. There were too many saxaphones so I was bumped to oboe.
There were six of us playing oboe, and I hated three of them. They were the "cool kids" who always put down everyone else in school, and I thought about switching because I didn't want to compete with them until high school.
By freshman year of high school I was the only one still playing. Actually, all of the players I can remember in high school while i was in 7th-junior year no longer play, or professionally at least.
Chances are, most people drop out anyways. Don't let a juvenile rivalry get in your way. The best always floats to the top.
