I have a Loree Royale oboe, and it is my baby. I absolutely love it. Before I got it, I tried a custom Yamaha, a Fox 800 and some standard Lorees but nothing compared to the sound I got from the Royale. The Yamaha came close, but the Royale has a much warmer sound up through the different registers.
As for the original question about why professionals choose Loree Royales all the time, it's a matter of personal preference. As I did this past year, oboists looking to upgrade their oboe try many many oboes before picking the one that works for them. It is true that oboists prefer some oboe makers to others, but initially they all tried oboes from different brands.
