Hi Baron,

I don't have your answer but here some thoughts:

1 If you had listened to pros who sound great on their loree royales, then surely that is a great part of your answer, ie that simply because they are able to sound good on those instruments. (assuming that they have gone through some search but only these instruments make them sound that good or in a certain way that is approved as the fashionable sound of the moment!)

2 The prevalence of the Loree has something to do with Marcel Tabuteau and his students and grand-students who are following in the traditions of his teachings and philsophy.

3 Looking at the bigger picture world-wide, Howarths are used by plenty of professionals and so are other reputable brands as Marigaux, Rigoutat, Dupin, Laubin etc etc. in Orchestras around the world.

4 Choosing one brand over another is obviously going to be a personal choice at the end of the day. But the fact that there are professionals who use a certain brand of a model does say something about the quality of the instrument in use.
