I thought the DM is pitched higher for the German market. I really don't know anything about it...

The AK has a smaller bore in the top joint than the regular "c" and a double cut in the bell that is the copy of a great Tabuteau oboe.

Baron, I believe the Royale comes in the standard "c" and the AK bores. I have no knowledge about the DM style in a Royale. The Royale is not a bore style but a completely different model of the Loree oboe or English horn.

I have played (and owned) wonderful "c" models as well as AKs. Likewise, I have also seen terrible of both. Some Royales I have tried have been lovely, some not worth the energy to pick them up. One of my former students has an AK Royale I would by from her in a NY minute! Too bad she doesn't want to sell it.

So, who knows?! If the instrument does what you need it to, go for it. Find one that suits your individual needs regardless of the bore, brand or whatever other factor.
