Here's a video from last year where I played a solo with the concert band I'm with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXTM98f7B5g
And one in amongst the concert band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlveR2naD8M
In both cases I was at the mercy of reeds - in the first video I played on a reed that was on its way out so it felt like a piece of steel, plus my 8ve vents blocked up with the high humidity levels on that day (stupid of me to wear a jacket as well!) and in the second video I used the other oboist's reed as mine split during the first number we did.
I haven't studied oboe to any degree although I've had many lessons from a former London freelance player and don't spend a lot of time practicing as I ought to as I spend my time repairing instruments or playing in several bands (not just oboe, but sax and clarinet as well as 6-key piccolo!).

I would like to incorporate a bit of every sound I like, but that's near on impossible - although it's good to have a particular sound and style to suit any particular occasion.
For the record, I'm mainly a bari sax player.
