I think it is high time Buffet owned up to this flaw and either withdrew this instrument from the market or researched better materials.

All of the greenline breaks I have seen (and there are other photos on the web) look exactly like this, and point to the same root cause; a poor choice of composite material lacking in flexibility and tensile strength. However good this material may be from an acoustical perspective, it is not up to the mark mechanically.

Often - especially if one is in a hurry or if the player is youthful or inexperienced - joints are not aligned precisely when the instrument is assembled. This is not an issue for a wooden instrument as the natural strength and flexibility of the wood easily bends and absorbs the stress. With a rigid composite material such as used in greenline instruments the repeated stresses will cause microscopic cracks and eventually cause the joint to fail at the weakest point.
