I know this is old but I wanted to respond to the OP so we could bond over similar circumstances and bump this thread up a bit for consumer awareness.

I feel your pain! This happened to me tonight while swabbing. My buffet Orfeo (greenline as well) is only 7 months old and purchased new. I have never dropped the instrument and I have never been rough with it either. I even polish the keys every day (it was expensive and it means the world to me).

I sent my emails to the place I purchased the instrument and I sent emails to buffet. Hopefully I will have some better luck than Howard! I live in Gainesville FL (very close to Jacksonville where Buffet has a major office). I'm hoping they allow me to travel directly to buffet to have the top joint assessed or replaced.

As it is I give my masters degree recital in 4 weeks and then move to another state in 6 weeks. Time is going to be rather important! I have to locate something to at least practice on for a short while.

All my reeds are set for this buffet too (It took a few months but i feel like I have finally adapted my reed making style!). Hopefully it comes back as good as new, otherwise its back to searching for a new oboe, AGAIN!
