I honestly don't think it's the CANE that needs the 'stabilizing', I think it's more ME that does. I admire the folks that can crank out a beautiful reed in a few hours' time.
And I also like the more dense cane, for stability and longevity. Porous cane and I never seem to make good reeds together.
