HAHAHAHAHAHAH (i am one of the younger and non american nor canadian players in this forum....muahahahaha.)
Dutchy seems to be getting a bit over freaked out over everything...
ok....they have practically told you everything you should know. So now....
Shubert's unfinished symphony, and the famous oboe solo, regarded as ONE OF THE MOST established and difficult in symphonic repertoire. So.....
maybe your band director is crazy, or you are simply enthusiastic to the an extend of psycho illogical paths. Haha...but anyways...play the FLUTE solo and then we'll help you out after the concert. Don't let this discourage you, coz we all go through the same stage in the beginning, and yes, oboe is so much more fun than the flute.....KAKAKAKAKA.....anyways......sorry......back to my sanity, if playing the flute seems relaxed then the oboe should feel a million times more relaxed....thats just the case...beginner bites on the reed, clamps hard, has no idea if the reed is working or not, etc...But i can see a future in you, from your basic flute playing background + VERY enthusiastic attitude. So come back soon enough and let us check your progress, where we will be more than happy to help on with. And tell us about the concert too......hehe....
Regards,
Howard
