Coop -- I do agree to a degree. I did find that there was more resistance in the Laubin. For me this was somewhat beneficial, as I could make a lighter reed without crossing the line into wildness, and as with the Loree I found that it was often too free, leading to more difficulty controling the speed of vibrato. And I found your observations about making different colors correct, with the Loree being inherently more flexible. However, the Laubin provided flexibility as well, and my instrument had a wonderful ring to it. As for projection, I am 5'3" and failrly slight, and I had no difficulty making a huge sound. (Some of that could be attributed to the @300 stomach crunches which I did religiously every day, -- seriously -- but that's another subject...)
