There is a Laubin oboe for sale (2004) that was used in a major symphony orchestra. They are asking $8600 for it. That seems somewhat outragous to me. I know it's a Laubin and I'm sure it's a fine instrument, but if people are willing to pay that much for a used instrument, then I suppose the prices for Laubins will remain high. I wouldn't mind trying the instrument but I'm not sure if it would be worth that much money, especially when you consider that the instrument is used. I don't think I would be able to convince my husband that I should spend that much money on a used oboe. He would never understand.
