Whatever happened to 'a rose by any other name would smell as sweet'?
comparing Laubins and Lorees is a bit like comparing Mercedes and Mazerattis, don't you think? There's pride in each maker, and probably a lemon or two coming off the assembly line every decade or so,as well.
But your comments are fascinating. I remember saying of my first (professional quality) oboe, 'You can't over-blow it!' And, as Cooper implies, some of the response you'll get from an instrument has to do with the player. And the cut of the reed, of course.
