Hi; first post here. I'm an adult new to the oboe although competent on other instruments. I lucked into a very fine slightly-used Rigoutat pro model oboe, and I love it. It has a very good scale and no problems to date. My question has to do with what to do when I do have to get it worked on; there are no competent repair people locally, and I would have to send it off to somewhere and then wait for however long it took to get it back.
Of course I'd like to learn to work on it myself, but wouldn't know where to start, and specifically don't want to "fix" something that is not broken, thereby producing something that now *is* broken, if you know what I mean.
So I feel I should have a backup instrument; also one that would be useful outdoors. I live in a hot, dry climate, and cracking is always an issue. I've thought my best bet is to pick up a Fox 330. Opinions?
Kindest regards,
EBH
