You must have a C crow.. If you have not played long, or made reeds much, it would seem that is does not matter. I just made a couple of reeds for a very famous player in my shop, and he would ONLY have a C crow.

You risk problems if your crow is too low.... Your high register will Stink.. because more than likely the opening is too large.. and your low register "bottoms out" and will probably be flat.

There is no other choice on this one, trust me... All my professional reeds will crow a C or I will not ship them. Student reeds will usually crow a C, but sometimes a customer wants a REALLY soft reed.. and so to do that, a C crow is just not possible!

There is also a difference on HOW you crow a reed... The main thing is to be CONSISTENT in the way you crow it when making reeds! Only crow ONE way!
