I use beeswax to seal the inserts (melting it on the thread before fitting rather than melting it onto the inserts after they're fitted), though you do need to be sure there's no beeswax in the hole itself (which are around 0.7 or 0.75mm) or on the surface of the inserts which will make the 8ve key pads stick - especially the lower one as the spring tension is usually set low on that vent key.
