Karen,

I want to second Susan's comment about taking lessons with an oboist. It will make a world of difference to you. Try to find someone with whom you're comfortable and who does not intimidate you. There's nothing worse than facing a lesson with a bundle of nerves.

The oboe is a wonderful instrument. I have been playing on and off since I was in high school. I'm now 58 years old and have had a renewed enthusiasm for the playing, and yes, I am taking lessons again at my ripe old age.

Walter
