The church oboe player did play in college. I think she'll really help Anne in growing to appreciate and love music.

We may buy an oboe stand just to help Anne if she has to go to the bathroom or something while playing. It makes me nervous to have such an expensive instrument on the carpet, and she is not quite 13.

She just finished playing for about 1/2 hour. Her eyes just light up. It makes me happy that she is so happy. I just want to emphasize to her that she needs to take special care of this delicate instrument. I already told her that this is the last instrument we buy for her.

It was a leap of faith to plop down $850 the day after she left her clarinet on the bus! I'll let you know how she is doing, and again I really appreciate all of the advice. She herself made the decision to take her musical training very seriously.
