I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind input. I will definitely try your recommendations out during my practice this week. My teacher taught me just this past weekend about blowing hard on the tip of the reed to soften notes. I am going to try this as well as the "rounder" embouchure, singing, air, etc., and see what works best. This instrument is the coolest and I'm enjoying the challenge.
"Vboboe", I will get back to you on this:
>>>Ah, you're doing Gekeler, what are your favorite pieces just now? My teacher said it's Gekeler II for me this year ... bu..but...but ... I still can't quite get some of the stuff in Gekeler I! If you get through II this year, you'll find 1 a breeze, she said! Yeah, right, IF i get through II ...<<<
I'm only on page 19 and I just know most of the stuff by "number" and not name. Gekeler II is probably a few months away for me.... Good luck!
Happy oboe-ing all! :D
