No, vb, I've never greased a cork.
I've never actually made, or tried to make, a reed from scratch, either. I've tried to scrape a couple, and learned from that experience why I'm willing to pay the big bucks to others for the privilege. I can adjust reeds, that's all.
But I do save all my deceased reeds. Some have miraculous resurrections, others hold fond memories, and some were DOA, just as if I'd made them myself!
Somebody on some list somewhere wrote that he uses an x-acto knife with a #12 blade for all his reed work. Anybody else do that?
