The bore was very smooth and shiny, and it had been oiled by myself prior to being overhauled (and just after I fitted the new tenon corks).

Though I don't know exactly how old it was - maybe around 15 - 20 years old, but the outside surface of the joints wasn't worn at all.

The keys were all castings and a pain to fit cork pads into as the cups were shallow and were bevelled on the inside as opposed to having parallel sides.

Not an oboe I'd like to work on again.

Though I've worked on old Loree oboes from around 1910-1920 and Louis ones from between the wars (as well as early Howarths form the late '40s-mid '50s), and these played beautifully with a nice warm tone, and with bags of character, and all made with excellent craftsmanship.
