Mike,
I would like to try a Covey oboe. Any Covey oboe players out there?
What is your experience(s) with Covey oboe?
At the end of this month - I will try marigaux, the new rigoutat J series, and maybe a covey too. Any other suggestions. ....... I want to think out of the box.
I have given up on the Loree Royal for the moment - after trying 11 Oboes!
This is what I am looking for in an Oboe:
Consistent - even scale - good intonation
No differential between the two octave keys in breath support
The ability to grow the sound exponentially in proportion to increased support
to be able to play and "bend" the sound to create color through the use of the air stream
Flexibility of the sound
Good projection
and if it is in the cards to be somewhat forgiving of reeds - it would be an extra bonus!
I too old to wait for an Laubin!
