-- "I found with clarinets that the Buffet fingering is difficult for me, but other makes better." --
I know this is the oboe board, but could you be more specific? I had exactly the same experience. I started out on a Hanson student model and then played other makes. I have a full boehm Buffet with a beautiful velvety tone, but the RH pinkie keys are really uncomfortable. I suddenly realised why. If you look down the clarinet and portray it as a circle, the keys are at 3am rather than 2am. Thus my small finger has to move both sideways and down further below the plane of my hand.
Needless to say I never use the low Eb.
