Well, I'm working with the suggestions above and things are generally better with the hands; it has been so long since I played my fingers seem to want to do interesting things on their own. Using a mirror and playing slowly with attention to my finger position (I try not to look at my face as I play) has helped enormously. For some reason my right pinkie now seems to want to lock at the distal joint; sometimes it seems like "Whack a Mole": there's always something popping up.
Looks like I'm not going to need to mess with the keys on my wonderful oboe and look to myself for the answer instead.
I was wondering something about embrochure; what is the best way to get it into shape?
Several small practice sessions a day? As long a session as I can tolerate until my lips pop out? I'm using a medium soft reed until my lip is stronger but some days even they wear me out after ten or fifteen minutes.
I am reading Jay Light's book "Essays for Oboists" and like what he has to say about forming the embrochure more as an anteater than a Cabbage Patch doll! As a teenager I was told to pull the lips back and so they were tighter over the lips and not so cushiony; I can seen the benefits of the anteater mouth.
