Great diagram and notes!
Here is another article about the German reed-making style (although in this case, the oboist in question used bent staples to lower the angle of her oboe). I cannot find the original article (the IDRS volume number does not appear in the pdf file, and anyway most of the idrs.org publications links are broken), but it can be downloaded from this website here:

I have attached the diagram (Figure 3 on Page 4). This was poorly scanned, and so I have tried to decipher the text based upon my own myopic reading abilities (I have no idea how this works, but it does). The text in the diagram is as follows:
[LH side of diagram]
Curvature of the surface of the back, from centre to sides is less than the curvature of the lay, from centre to sides.
Scraping as indicated will make the reed vibrate without [thinning] out too much wood, and will soften [reeds that] have stiffened overnight.

The tip area should gradually be thinner from back to front and middle to sides.
