I had this same problem - you get so close but not quite! The fix for me was to ensure that there were smooth transitions between all parts of the reed. In other words, the tip needs to blend nicely with the heart; the heart needs to blend nicely with the windows and back. Check your reed's profile/side view and ensure you don't see any major step offs between these parts. Try scraping slightly on *all* areas and keep trying it in the oboe until it matches your style. You may need to clip the tip and re-finish if you find it gets flat. That can be annoying but if you do small clips, you will find the magic length. Practice makes perfect and you will get it. Hopefully you're not putting too much pressure on yourself to get the hang of it quick because it does take time. Don't get frustrated. Good luck!
