I agree it should be up to the Conductor but as we're an amateur orchestra. Its extremely difficult. We are a rare breed in my area. an oboist I mean.

Its hard to sit there saying nothing but not trying to step on anyones toes. We are there fro enjoyment not to sound like a proffessional. If I was playing badly., hopefully I would have the insight to notice it myself and perhaps suggest either they change the piece or ask the other player to gve it a try.
How do you suggest to a collegue that the reeds they are using aren't any good for them. I've tried as tactfully as I can but she likes Rico as they are easy to blow.
