What an interesting thread-with lots of good info. I'd not thought about a lot of these things. But then, I am playing with our community orchestra, strictly for fun and I haven't noticed any problems. Well, except for in percussion(I play timpani too on occasion). Some of the percussionists do have a bit of a dark side. I do wish that folks would pay as much attention to playing in tune with each other as they do to their tuners...

It also helps that my teacher is our first oboe. She's very laid back-and so am I. We have no problems.
