A hanky worked. Thanks Chris! It was a new reed (a Howarth actually....) which is only a few days old and has had one layer of grease. I only stuck it in for the last ten minutes of practice, I'm trying to break it in slowly......assumed it would be ok as the previous reed was certainly greased well. Learned my lesson!
