Our daughter knows to swab every time. She does have a wood oboe, so I am concerned that she be able to care for it. The repair guy told us that he's had lots of people bring in oboes with eagle feathers stuck in them, so he recommends against them. He also explained how the silk swab can get stuck and, if it does, bring it in. It was really helpful to have him talk at length with Anne. We will get the humidifier in the fall. This whole experience of the last two weeks was so sudden and had to be all decided before she registered for 8th grade classes, but it seems to have worked out great.

Anne has such a love of playing, and she just became a happier and more confident person when she started playing the clarinet. She sounds pretty good for a brand new player. I can even recognize some of the tunes.
