Tips for *marching* the oboe? >>>

This is why I was asking about synthetic reeds yesterday...

Our marching band has been invited to play in the governor's inaugural parade next Monday and our band director selected a portion of one of our wind ensemble pieces to play for the parade (the trio part of National Emblem).

Keep in mind, this is the most difficult part of the music containing all the runs (all the other woodwinds got suitabale re-writes for marching band). He said he knew *I* could do it though and his theory is that it will help me to get as much practice as I possibly can so that by district competition, it will be second nature. Yes, I can definitely agree with that although I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be marching the oboe.

So, I should be marching the school oboe instead of my own oboe just to be safe. I shudder to think that my professional wood oboe would make its way into a parade. Same with the reed, who knows what damage marching could do to it so I though it wouldn't hurt to try a synthetic reed (after all, it will only be this *one* time that I'll be marching oboe, after that I hope to continue as clarinet section leader for marching band).
