The piece is a homage for Witold Lutoslawski who was a great influence and a source of inspiration for me at the time. Tru'a is scored for a large symphony orchestra." This is a Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra. Recorded by Richard Stoltzman and the Warsaw Philharmonic in August 1997. |

Boese has a microfilm. There is an incomplete set of parts at the University of Wroclaw in Poland. Manuscript destroyed at Darmstadt in WW2. Schloss Harburg in Bavaria has an Oboe transcription of it (a later arrangement). Listed by Breitkopf &x0026; Hartel in 1781 and republished for oboe by Simrock in 1963 and Breitkopf in 1970. Written for Heinrich Baermann. Theme and variations. Probably the most popular work in the repertoire, especially for younger players who display some technical facility. Good writing for the clarinet exhibiting its capability to play various styles. The Bellison editions were once THE standard North American editions, with added embellishments. Some newer preferences are 1) the International edition (edited by Reginald Kell; it's older, but has good page turns, and generally agreeable articulation, which on the fast runs you should feel free to edit to suit your current ability (i.e.; 2 and 2); 2) the Pam Weston edition for its cadenza sheet (she includes Heinrich Baermann, the dedicatee's, cadenza) but don't like the 2 clarinet-stave score for the pianist; 3) Schirmer publishes an edition edited by Arthur Christmann which puts the original clarinet part in the Piano score for reference. Beware older editions which have an extra (unnecessary) repeat added in to the second variation at M. 1O3. |
