I do indeed love the key of Db for it's sonority, and yeah, it's much nicer than C#! Provided the tempo is at a thinkable and doable pace. It's when they chuck in Cb and Fb that the brain gets a bit addled, but Fb and Cb still have their place.
Though a lot of military band music is in flat keys (and usually every key from two to six flats) with a lot of running around, but it would be nice to get rid of five flats by using a Db oboe sometimes. I might look for an old Triebert one, if they ever made them in Systeme 6 form and in low pitch.
