Well, it kinda pops--but as I suck on it, I have the sensation of it not being quite as airtight as the Fox is when I do this. It feels like there's a tiny bit of air coming in from...somewhere. And when I blow out against it, ditto--feels like some miniscule amount of air is getting out...somewhere. When I do this with the Fox, like when the octave key is blobbed up with spit, it's like blowing into a brick. This feels like blowing into a vaguely spongy brick.
So the next question is, why would a leaky oboe make the reed more tiring to play?
