Unlike with oboe, I use only pre-shaped ehorn cane and differing shapes, so have little qualtiy control compared to my oboe cane.

I have noticed similarities to the oboe reed in that if I tie longer (cane closes very close to the end of the staple) then the sides press more tightly together at the tip, so I assume a smaller opening would also be the effect.

Sometimes if I want a larger opening, I intentionally tie a bit shorter and slip the blades a bit more.

It seems to work out well most of the time.
