Right, many ways to skin the cat!

Those double windows Kerry places strike me as very interesting, although habits die hard and I am reluctant to mess with the heart of the reed that way...still, to add another metaphor, a skinny kid and fat kid on a teeter totter (see saw) can find a point of balance and a good time is had by all.

Although, the skinny kid gets to ride higher in the process.

Perhaps, I'll keep that in mind and try it out on a couple reeds and see if I like it.

I was originally taught to make off-set windows, still behind the heart, but perhaps this is an evolution of that concept. I do find most other players I know with reed hearts a bit too heavy, and the double windows may help out there.

If you listen to Kerry's sound samples you will probably find the tone well-centered and pleasant. I am told by some poeple who've used the reeds they play easily, comfortably and make a nice sound. Others still say nice but perhaps a bit dull. (Fat kid, skinny kid stuff..)
